Chapter Programs
Synapse chapters provide support through three core programs:
1. Peer Support Groups: Trained student facilitators host regular meetings (typically twice per month) which bring together individuals with brain injuries and those who care for them, allowing them to share experiences and resources with each other while building meaningful social connections. Peer support groups provide a safe space for members to discuss day-to-day challenges and successes.

2. Buddy Programs: These programs provide an opportunity for each individual with a brain injury to be paired with a university student at their Synapse chapter. By fostering personal connections and mutual support, buddy pairs help reduce the social isolation individuals with a brain injury often experience. As part of our program, buddies check in with each other on a regular basis and attend various social activities hosted by the chapter, such as game, movie, and craft nights!

Our MIT chapter buddy program hosted a pumpkin decorating event.
3. Educational Events: Synapse chapters host educational lectures and conferences featuring a variety of speakers including physicians and researchers in the field. These events provide attendees with an opportunity to stay informed on the latest advances in the field while also raising awareness of issues related to brain injury in the broader community.
